Our Story
blueBell Village was born out of our family’s experience.
When founder Andrew Karesa’s grandmother, Shirley Bell, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, her family came together to care for her. They weren’t medical professionals. Just people who loved her and wanted to help.
Shirley’s favourite colour was blue. She loved tending to her garden and minding her flowers. Between her last name being Bell, her love of blue, and her quiet joy in the garden, blueBell became the perfect way to honour her legacy.
As more people joined her care circle, things became complicated. Everyone was doing their best, but the care wasn’t unified. Information got lost. People weren’t always on the same page. The family realized that love alone wasn’t enough — they needed better ways to work together.
That’s what led to the creation of blueBell Village.
What started as a way to support Shirley has grown into something more — a commitment to reimagining how we support people living with dementia and the families who walk beside them.
